As part of the options available to us via the REST API, we can update the languages spoken by students. Since education is increasingly likely to take place in a language that is not the student's native tongue, it is a requirement for us to monitor the proficiency of English language ability, so we can determine how well students are able to engage in their studies.
It's great that we can update the Languages spoken via the API, I would also like you to provide access to the Census > Proficiency in English field under Student Manager, so we can update this at the same time.
