Preferences: Reinstate P/S All for Default Page Size

iSAMS altered the default page size within Preferences, which removed the ability to display all records on one page. Please can this be added back

The problem is that when you select a group of pupils for a subsequent task you want all those selected, not a subset; if you wanted a subset you would normally make that selection - this could be for emailing/texting their parents or exporting to Excel for example. Having to actively select 'All' when you've just made that selection anyway makes no sense to an end user and sets up a needless situation of risk that didn't exist before - it's as though each school has to accept this change in order to give better performance to all schools on the cloud server - suggesting that perhaps either the server isn't good enough or the SQL isn't efficient (there are much bigger databases using SQL that work well). For example, a teacher accidentally emailed only the first screenful of parents about a parents' evening last week meaning that the last few alphabetically didn't get an equal choice at the appointments - potentially awkward/embarrassing and uses time having to do the job again - the next error could be more significant - it's not that clear on the screen that what has been returned isn't what you asked for and in any case you just want to see them all first time please.

Michelle - your reply of 23rd Sept saying that 'All', once selected, becomes the new default: that applies to the current session only - by default it needs to be every time please.

Please could I have more clarity on the issue - Is it that when you do a search, you want to be able to email everyone included in the search results, for example, all 860 (number displayed in bottom right hand corner eg, 1 to 100 of 860) or is the issue that you want to be able to look at all 860 without having to Jump from page to page. If it is both of the above, could you give me an example of why you would scroll through 860 student, for example?

Just got off the phone with a teacher struggling with this. Please add the option of P/S All back as a default

Although the larger page defaults have been removed from the Preferences Module, once a search is done, the results size criteria can be updated against those search results to 250 or All. This is then persisted whenever the user carries out any other searches, unless the user is using a different laptop. So in effect, this then becomes the default.

This is a problem, especially for staff who send bulk emails to parents, as it can lead to pupils being missed off because the member of staff forgot to change to P/S - All. Even if they remember, having to change it is an extra step that shouldn't be needed.

This change is an absolute pain - and a backwards step.

An incredibly disappointing change, which makes it more likely that emails using the Email Wizard will only be sent to up to 100 people (the largets you can set the default to via the cog). This also adds an unnecessary extra step to the workflow.

Why not allow the user to set to a more reasonable level? For our school this is 200. Can it really slow system performance that much?

20 votes now... please team... you must see that this was a backwards step?

This was a conscious decision taken by ISAMS because ALL searches made the system slower... well I will take a slower search with all results rather than a quicker search with partial results, making me then manually change it ALL straight away anyway - if I remember and do not have to start all over (no time saved to the user).... and I am sure quite a lot of other users would as well.

If a user/school wants quicker searches they can set their default to a lower number, but this should never have been removed for everyone.

Please reinstate the P/S All default, I'm not sure why you would take this away. It has caused a number of issues.

The inconvenience caused to users with additional clicks (which add up when you're a full-time iSAMS user) to presumably save a tiny bit of bit of bandwidth seems a poor choice on iSAMS behalf.

OMG - this is so important. I have teachers, heads of year and Boarding Houseparents complaining about what nuisance this is. I had to send an email to all staff to advise anyone sending emails to check and check and check what the p/s was before they select their recipients after several members of staff sent emails intended for whole year groups or whole boarding houses only to the first 25 parents. Such a silly change and caused us immense nuisance.

Agreed! Please could this be reinstated for the admissions manager and pupil manager.
