We are a new school to iSAMS and have noticed that there are some basic data security options that are missing. Examples:
Student registers for SEN - The document store requires a user to download a copy of the document to read it - this means there are copies of student support plans on end user devices - this is not acceptable. - We have had to use SharePoint with support plans stored as read only PDF's that cannot be downloaded or printed. This type of file store feature would be very helpful as a feature in isams and allow all documentation on a pupil to be stored in one place!.
Rich Text Editor to allow Hyper links to be added or for information about a pupil to be formatted and displayed correctly - the single text string is awful for the end user.
Agreed, a very important missing feature and data security nightmare.
We too would like to see support for PDF in-browser viewing. We have tried to use this feature for other non-sensitive documents, generic word docs for example, and it is burdensome to have to always download the document/file to view it.
We would also like to see the inclusion of support for common audio and video file types. We've created a pronunciation and phonetic spelling register, and while the file upload feature is great for upload of the sound bite, this requires the user to download it each time.
Allowing for a hyperlink, as per another feature request, would help in the interim so that we could directly link to the files in our storage area however, in-browser support for opening/viewing/playing the most common file types would be a great step forward.
